“They were all filled with the Holy Ghost.” A fresh anointing for their work. The Holy Spirit had already come to indwell them as it does for every believer (I Corinthians 12:13), but the filling was a renewal of power for their work just as you refill your auto’s gas tank after going on a trip. Third, the speaking in the phenomena. “They spake the word of God with boldness.” The filling was not for entertainment but for service. The filling gave courage for their work—much courage was needed, too.
